Christie-Elite supply a wide range of UK provenance native broadleaves.
Specialists in UK Provenance Trees
We specialise in supplying trees of UK and, in particular, Scottish origin native broadleaves. Our stock is fully traceable and plant - passported. On request we can provide details of the provenance of all our plants.
Caledonian Scots pine, Pinus sylvestris var. scotica is specific to Scotland and we are able to offer pine planting stock grown from seed collected from biochemical regions N1-N7.
Much of the planting stock marketed in the UK is imported from mainland Europe. At Christie-Elite we collect seed from registered woodlands across Scotland. The seed is used to grow native broadleaves at our Forres nursery and, unless seed is short, we are generally able to offer the full range of native species from zones 102-204 collected and grown in the UK.
Trees grown from seed collected in these remote Glens ensures that the ancient gene pool of these stands is continued for the benefit of associated wildlife. Importantly the trees are also better adapted to climatic conditions found in Northern Scotland.
The majority of Christie Elite's native plants are supplied as bare-root seedlings up to 40cm in size. These seedlings are easy to handle, vigorous and establish readily even in the most difficult conditions. In addition to seedling stock we also have a range of transplants and cell-grown plants from various provenance zones.
