Broom (Cytisus scoparius)
Broom is widely planted as ornamental landscape plants, and also as a dune stabilising species. As a member of the pea family it has the ability to fix nitrogen in the soil and is therefore beneficial to other nearby species. It prefers a position benefitting from maximum sun in a well-drained soil, and its yellow flowers will add colour as part of a mixed hedge from late spring.
