Grey Willow (Salix cinerea)
A multi-branched shrub or tree, usually 4-6m in height and up to 10m. It has a dark grey/brown trunk which becomes quite fissured with age. It is a wetland species being naturally found in marshes acid bogs and along watercourses, the subspecies native to the UK and Western Europe being Salix cinerea ssp. oleifolia.
