Noble Fir (Abies procera)
A popular Christmas tree species, the noble fir is also harvested for timber for construction purposes. Typically planted on higher ground for its tolerance of altitude, the noble fir is a large tree, growing up to 60m. It has the strongest wood of the true firs, and a high strength to weight ratio, which has led to its use in airplane construction.
