Ramanus Rose (Rosa rugosa)
This is a deciduous shrub growing to 2m, making an attractive hedge on account of the abundance of rose flowers, and later rosehips, that the tree produces. It is also very cold resistant, withstanding temperatures down to -40°C, and highly tolerant of salt making this a good choice of hedge for homes which are next to roads which are frequently de-iced – an ideal hedge for the Scottish Highlands!
